Tacking around Cape Apostolos Andreas (Cape Saint Andrew), the north-easternmost point (promontory) of the Cypriot panhandle.

Visiting the orthodox Monastery of Apostolos Andreas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which had gained a reputation for miracle-making as early as the time of St. Andrew - the patron saint of sailors - who reputedly restored the eyesight of a sailing ship's captain after that captain had arrived here from Palestine.

Meeting German friends Monika & Norbert and enjoying a lovely evening with Monika's brilliant pieces of art and Norbert's famous home-cooked pasta at their beautifully build finka, watching a very spectacular and romantic sunset - many thanks for your wonderful hospitality.

Crossing the expensive meridian of E 034° which allegedly separates the boys from the men - according to the yacht-insurance industry who is asking for higher premiums E of this “demarcation line”.

Meeting again the French yotties Patricia & Jean-Claude from SY "Tololea" whom we had met before in Tunisia and in Turkey and having together a delicious cockpit supper.

Partying with Cypriot friends Nalam & Alper at their beach bungalow, drinking delicious local wine and feasting on Alper's special octopus stew.

Konni: Swimming together with curious common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) who came very close to our anchorage.

Exploring the hidden rooms, tunnels, overgrown gardens, steep staircases and paths of the ruins of St. Hilarion Castle, inspiration for Walt Disney's fairytale castle, and biking back along the Kyrenia Mountain Range via the beautiful village of Lapta to Girne.

Consuming Turkish coffee with cardamom under the Tree of Idleness in Bellapais village, home of author Lawrence Durrell, and watching a brilliant performance of Mozart's "Magic Flute" in the ruins of the impressive but quite incongruous-looking Augustinian Monastery.

Visiting the walled (Venetian) city of Famagusta by local dolmus (minibus) and admiring the Gothic architecture of the imposing Lala Mustafa Pasa mosque which dominates the skyline of the Old Town.

Touring the tourific Troodos Mountains in a hired Suzuki Grand Vitara 4x4 compact SUV for 35.- per day and visiting the UNESCO-protected frescoed churches and monasteries, especially the Kykkos Monastery, a spectacular religious site with a splendid Byzantine museum, where we spent one night, free of charge, in the pilgrims' quarters.
