Malaysian Borneo
Sarawak aka Land of the Hornbills
Small but adequate twin room, with wifi, air-con and breakfast, for MYR 50.- or US$ 14.20.- per night.

Click below for an interactive road map of the Minda Guest House in Miri, which we would recommend, and for directions:

Refreshing our maggi-mee jaded palates and feasting on fresh seafood (deep-fried crabs, perfectly cooked salt-and-pepper prawns, braised sea cucumbers with mushrooms, spicy fish-head curries and, as a side dish, sayur manis cooked in belacan [shrimp paste]) at our favourite Chinese eateries (New Thompson Seafood +6085410417, Seng Kee Food Centre +6085411112, Shanghai Seafood Centre +60198759955) with their massed tanks of live aquatic creatures which made our visits to these eateries as educational as a visit to any marine museum; eating here is like eating an aquarium...

Taking the local bus no. 28 (MYR 2.- per person) from Miri's city centre to Miri's airport and flying with MASwings (“Connecting the World to Sabah and Sarawak”), Malaysia Air's Borneo branch, in an ATR 72-500 over undulating hills covered in neat grids of orangutan-free oil palms to Mulu near the Gunung Mulu National Park for all inclusive MYR 102.- or US$ 28.- per person, one way.
